About

Welcome to ERAesthetics Los Angeles

(pronounced: air-uhs-THET-iks)

ERAesthetics. It’s simply my initials (E.R.A.) pronounced as, and playing on, the word era blended into the word aesthetics. While this company was born out of my work as an esthetician, aesthetics here refers to the broader meaning of the word, using its classic spelling.

Aesthetics is a branch of philosophy that deals with the nature of beauty, art, and discerning taste; it’s a conception of what is pleasing to the senses, especially sight. Aesthetics reflects an appreciation not only for how things look, but also for how they are created, experienced, and valued.

ERAesthetics L.A. isn’t just another beauty store. It’s a space created to make beauty and wellness feel inclusive, attainable, and designed to fit into any lifestyle.

I started ERAesthetics after years of working in top salons and spas from Minneapolis to Los Angeles. I loved helping clients feel radiant and renewed, but there was one thing that made me a little disheartened. I served women who were treating themselves to luxurious skincare treatments on a regular basis, yet among them, Black women were few and far between. Whether this had to do in part with the old adage that “Black don’t crack” (hence, fewer Black clients booking facials), or the reality that access often comes with a steep price tag (disproportionately leaving Black and brown women priced out of such services), it seemed the world of beauty and wellness, at least where skincare and spa were concerned, was not made with Black women in mind.

I can even go back as far as 2002—decades before ERAesthetics L.A. became an online destination—while enrolled in the original Aveda Institute’s Esthiology program in Minneapolis, I was the only Black esthetics student in my cohort, and one of just two in the entire program at the time. This was perhaps my earliest firsthand experience seeing how underrepresented Black women were in the beauty and wellness space.

It has never sat well with me.

ERAesthetics L.A. began as my way of making a change. I started where I could and with what I had. In 2019, it began as a tiny Instagram account devoted to natural hair, Black beauty, skincare, and my esthi work, as well as mental, physical, and spiritual wellness. Today, it’s a growing brand dedicated to curating beauty and wellness products designed to support you and enhance your lifestyle.

At ERAesthetics L.A., beauty is more than what you see in the mirror. It’s how you nurture yourself, how you move through the world, and how you honor your well-being.

What we believe in:

Curating with intention: Every product is thoughtfully chosen to elevate you or your space.

Accessible & approachable luxury: You deserve access to quality products and trusted beauty and wellness information without gatekeeping or intimidation.

Wellness as a lifestyle, not a privilege: Self-care isn’t extra. It’s essential.

Representation matters: Black women will absolutely see themselves front and center here. At the same time, we embrace diversity and welcome all who are interested in beauty and wellness.

This ERA is intentional.

More than a shop, it’s a space for community, discovery, and support where you can feel seen, celebrated, and cared for along your wellness journey.

Thank you for being part of this community and for supporting a small Black woman-owned business. — E.R.A.
